Allen Allcott: 2005

Ak-Chin Fire Department

Captain Allen Allcott of the Ak-Chin Fire Department has served with dedication and courage since 1994, rising through the ranks from Firefighter/EMT to Paramedic and Captain. Known for his compassion and commitment, Allen demonstrated extraordinary bravery on May 13, 2005, when he responded to a late-night call involving a vehicle crash and brush fire near his home. Arriving at the scene before his crew, Allen found a victim whose clothing had caught fire. Without protective gear and with no regard for his own safety, he stomped through burning grass to reach the unconscious man, extinguished the flames with work gloves, and dragged him to safety through a re-igniting blaze.

Thanks to Captain Allcott’s rapid, selfless actions and the timely arrival of his crew, the fire was contained, and three victims were airlifted to the hospital. Allen’s heroism reflects his unwavering professionalism and the best traditions of the fire service.
