Tony Mure: 2006
Phoenix Fire Department
Captain Tony Mure began his firefighting career in 1982 as a volunteer with the Cottonwood Fire Department, earning his EMT certification and working with the Verde Valley Ambulance Company. By 19, he secured a full-time position with the Verde Rural Fire District, where he rose to Captain, became one of the department’s first certified paramedics, and served as training officer, teaching Firefighter I & II classes. In 1994, Tony joined the Phoenix Fire Department, where he has served for over a decade as a Captain/Paramedic and member of the Honor Guard, Technical Rescue Team, and USAR Team.
Tony’s compassion extends far beyond the job. A dedicated volunteer with the Foundation for Burns & Trauma for over seven years, he has served as Camp Courage’s safety officer and volunteer camp director, devoting countless hours to planning programs, leading volunteers, and enriching the lives of burn survivors and their families. With a Master’s in Education & Leadership, he educates the community on burn prevention through media appearances and civic events while raising funds for the camp. His tireless commitment to service, both on and off duty, exemplifies the leadership, integrity, and compassion of Arizona firefighters.
